Man and Van in Rough Common

A move of two miles is not a small version of a move of two hundred. Nearly all the work sits at the two ends, in the carrying and the stairs, and almost none of it is in the driving, so pricing it by distance gets it badly wrong in both directions.

We quote these on the load and the access at each end, which is what actually takes the time. It also means a short move can often be done in two runs with a smaller van rather than one run with a large one, and where that is cheaper we will say so.

The residential streets here are leafy in a way that is pleasant to live on and awkward to park a Luton on. Mature trees overhang the kerb, verges are soft, and the branch heights on a couple of the roads are lower than the top of a box van.

We know which streets those are and plan the stop accordingly, because a scraped roof is a bad way to start a move. Where the overhang is genuinely tight we park clear and carry the extra few yards instead.

Rough Common sits right against the woodland, and its position on the city edge means it draws people moving both ways: out of Canterbury into something quieter, and into the city from the villages beyond. Both directions are regular work and neither is treated as a long haul.

Because we are covering the whole area anyway, moves between here and the neighbouring villages are usually straightforward to fit in. Ask about the date you want rather than assuming a short job is hard to place.
